The Russian city of Verkhoyansk in Siberia, known for having the most extreme temperatures in the world, recorded a record 38 degrees (100F) , the Russian Meteorological Service said.
The city is located in the Arctic Circle, in the Republic of Yakutia, about 4,660 km northeast of Moscow.
Verkhoyansk, with a population of about 1,300, holds the Guinness World Record for the city with the largest temperature differences, ranging up to 105 degrees.
The lowest recorded temperature is minus 68 degrees and the highest ever was 37.2.
Most of Siberia this year had unusually high temperatures that caused fires in some places.
